Dance Movement Psychotherapy
Looking after your mental health and wellbeing is extremely important to living a healthy, fulfilling and happy life. Therapy is a great tool for personal development, processing thoughts and feelings, life changes and significant events.
Dance movement psychotherapy (DMP) is a verbal and non-verbal form of creative arts therapy. DMP works to address both body and mind, this is done by verbal and non-verbal communication using the body as an extension of self-expression. Feelings and emotions from the subconscious appear with the use of creative movement used alongside verbal communication.

The Service
1-to-1 sessions & Group sessions
I provide 1-1 and group psychotherapy sessions. The therapy space is a safe, confidential space to talk and express your thoughts and emotions in a creative way. Sessions are non-judgmental and focus on your strengths. I use a Humanistic / person centred approach, looking at the person as a whole – developing a stronger, healthier sense of self, whilst learning to understand feelings and emotions.
My Approach
Person-centred approach
The use of movement, dance, story-telling, drama, art, body mapping, developmental rhythms and verbal communication are commonly present* in therapy sessions for extended expression/ processing. Aspects of mindfulness are also incorporated into the therapy space, to ground us into the present moment.

Frequently Asked Questions
Fill out the contact form with your name, email address and a small debrief of the reason you are seeking therapy. I will contact you to book your Free Consultation via telephone. Your therapy sessions will then start.
Ideally 12 sessions, this gives both client and therapist enough time to work through the focus of the therapy and see beneficial outcomes. Though therapy can continue anywhere from 12 sessions to 30 sessions.
- Adult therapy sessions: 1 hour
- Child therapy sessions: 45 minutes
Movement/ creative means are not compulsory in all therapy sessions. Though if you want a talking therapist then Counselling or Psychotherapy might be more suited to you.
If something is bothering you then the issue is never too small, your thoughts and feeling are important
During your free consultation you will be asked the reason for seeking therapy, this is so we can focus on the issue and so you get the most out of your sessions. You do not need to answer or talk about anything that you wish to keep private, sessions go at your own pace.
Sessions take place once a week, on the same day and time each week. Availability will be discussed in your free consultation. Alternatively therapy sessions can also take place fortnightly.
Therapy sessions are confidential, within your free consultation you will be asked which is the best way/ times to contact you. If you are worried someone might see an email or message about therapy, then all contact can be disgusted as another Dea Dia service e.g A Yoga Class.
