November Reset: A Month to Refresh, Recharge, and Realign. - Dea Dia | Improve Your Wellbeing

With only two months left in 2024, many of us are starting to feel the pull of holiday chaos and end-of-year overload. But this November, let’s choose a different path – with a November reset! Together, we can enter December feeling vibrant, centered, and fully ready to enjoy the festive season without feeling drained. Here’s a guide to focus on wellness, mindfulness, and intention as we prepare for a joyful December.

Daily Meditation
Imagine starting each morning with just a few moments of calm. A daily meditation practice doesn’t have to be a long ritual – even just 2 to 5 minutes of mindful breathing can set a peaceful, uplifting tone to your day. This simple practice can bring a wonderful sene of ease and help ground us during the busy weeks ahead. This November, challenge yourself to meditate daily, savouring those few minutes just for yourself. Apps like Insight Timer offer meditations of various lengths, so you can choose what fits your schedule. Let’s carry this calm into the holidays and make a peaceful start each day.

Strength Training Twice a Week
Strength training goes beyond fitness – it’s about building resilience in both mind and body. By lifting weights or doing resistance exercises twice a week, we tap into our own strength and discipline. Training before the holiday season brings a host of benefits: it boosts energy, promotes balance, reduces stress, improves sleep, and creates a positive routine. All of this helps you step into the festivities feeling strong, prepared, and ready to fully enjoy the season!

Choosing Whole Foods
Comfort foods can be tempting this time of year, but choosing whole, nutrient-rich foods helps us feel our best. Let’s try focusing on meals filled with vegetables, grains, proteins, and healthy fats, keeping snacks to a minimum. Nourishing ourselves in ways that energise and sustain us as winter sets in (and that first mince pie in December will feel extra special).

Mindful Sundays
Instead of a “cheat day,” let’s make Sundays all about intentional nourishment. We can fill our plates with extra fruits and veggies, ensuring our bodies get a vitamin and fiber boost. By making Sundays about balanced, nutritious meals (with a bit of flexibility), we’re giving ourselves a gentle refresh before the week begins.

(Nearly) Alcohol-Free November
This November, I’m going (nearly) alcohol-free, allowing just one planned exception. December often fills up with social event which might mean more bubbles than usual. As tempting as a cozy glass of red wine might be on these longer nights, cutting back now means I’ll enjoy better sleep, sharper focus, and a boost in energy, all setting me up to feel my best for the festive season ahead. So, let’s raise our glasses (of sparkling water!) to a November of bright mornings and clear minds.

Prioritising Restful Sleep
Anyone else feeling more tired than usual with the darker evening? I definitely do! Getting enough sleep is especially important during the start of a busy period. Set a goal of consistent bedtimes and wake-ups, to create a rhythm that leaves you feeling refreshed. Prioritising sleep building a foundation that lets us stay resilient and rested throughout the month.

Yoga for Strength and Flexibility
Yoga offers both physical and mental flexibility, which are invaluable this time of year. By committing to regular yoga practice, we can connect with ourselves, relieve tension, and feel grounded. Whether it’s a few sun salutations or a full session, let’s enjoy the flow and peace that comes with this mindful movement.

Sunday Journaling
Reflecting each week can be powerful. Every Sunday, let’s take a few minutes to journal our progress, challenges, and intentions for the coming days. This small act can help us stay motivated, centered, and more connected to our goals as we wrap up each week on a mindful note.

Hydration and Vegetable Juices
Hydration is a key ingredient to feeling vibrant. Let’s try incorporating more nutrient-packed vegetable juices, (I like beetroot or carrot), which are full of vitamins and antioxidants that support skin health, energy, and overall wellness. Staying hydrated with water and veggie juices can keep us glowing and energised. Ready to look our best this party season!

Screen-Free Days and Reduced Screen Time
As much as we rely on screens, they can leave us feeling drained. Schedule screen-free days each week to give the mind a break, reduce stress, and stay present. Reducing screen time helps us feel refreshed and more connected to the people around us. Try sticking to a screen free day one a week and maybe take this into December too!

Cooking More and Reducing Food Waste
Cooking at home can be so rewarding – and a great way to reduce food waste. By using what’s in our cupboards and making meals from scratch, we can be more mindful of our food and appreciate the abundance we already have. Let’s take this time to cook with care, reduce waste, and enjoy intentional meals. We can also take this practice into December, where there is a huge increase of food waste.

Early Goal-Setting for 2025
Rather than waiting until the end of December to think about New Year goals or resolutions, I am starting now. Setting intentions for 2025 this month mean I will enter the holiday season with clarity, feeling more prepared and less stressed. Taking the time to reflect and look ahead now can give us a sense of purpose and excitement for the New Year.

No Spend November
This November, practice financial mindfulness by avoiding unnecessary purchases. Aside from the essentials, I will be practice a no spend November. By cutting back on extras, you can gaining awareness of your spending habits and make room for what really matters, this is a really lovely thing to keep in mind when the pressures of Christmas shopping creeps in.

If you’re ready to join in, approach each goal with kindness and flexibility – this reset is all about finding balance, not creating pressure. Let’s prioritise health, mindfulness, and intention, so by December, we feel physically strong, mentally clear, and ready to enjoy a season of true joy and connection (and mince pies!)

Here’s to a November that’s all about refreshing, recharging, and resetting for a wonderful end to 2024.
